The First Capital Bank Head Office in Lusaka, which was recently awarded a 5-star Design rating, is the first building in Zambia to achieve a Green Star rating. This required commitment from both the client and the professional team.

Nedbank Head Office Campus leads the way to building excellence in Namibia
The Nedbank Head Office Campus in Windhoek has been awarded a 6-star New Build Office As-built rating by the Green Building Council South Africa, making it the first 6-star building in Namibia to receive this certification and ‘World Leadership Excellence’ status in environmentally sustainable building practices.

The most recently completed building in the mixed-use Oxford Parks precinct is 7 Parks Boulevard, located at the corner of Eastwood Road in Dunkeld. The Ikusasa Building (the Zulu word for ‘future’), developed by Intaprop, received a 6-star Green Star Office v1.1. Design certification in July and is targeting the As Built and Interiors certifications as well as a Net Zero Level 1 certification.

In2food Bonaero Park achieves Green Star and Net Zero certifications
The In2food Bonaero Park facility manufactures food for Woolworths and is situated in the OR Tambo Special Economic Zone. The site is one of the few industrial facilities in South Africa achieving both 4-Star Green Star Industrial Design v1 and Net Zero Carbon Level 1 certifications, setting the benchmark for other industrial developments.

Part of the upmarket Ballito Hills Lifestyle estate, the building also achieved a Net Zero Carbon Level 1 rating in March – with both certifications undertaken by Solid Green.

Motswere Prime Plaza II, an A-grade office space with a total floor area of 2,780m², is the first phase of the upcoming Prime Plaza II development in Botswana. Named after the stunning Leadwood Combretum trees that will inhabit the site, the building achieved its 5-Star Green Star Office Design v1.1 rating in May 2021.

Park Lane West, situated in the Menlyn Maine mixed-use precinct in Pretoria, is a seven-storey contemporary office building that was co-developed by Menlyn Maine Investment Holdings and Barrow Properties. The 19,900sqm building received its 4-Star Green Star Office Design v1.1 rating in March 2021 and is currently targeting a 4-Star As-built certification

The Race to Zero: 78 Corlett Drive

Anglo American Reinvention
Solid Green was part of the team that won the Anglo American Reinvention architectural competition. The team consisting of Kate Otten Architects and Mashabane Rose Associates, ARUP, and Davis Langdon. The winning design was presented to the judges in August 2011.
