Thato Molapo on taking responsibility for our future

With his appointment as Solid Green’s newest team member, Thato Molapo is bringing to his work enthusiasm and commitment to a more sustainable future for all.

Born and raised in Vereeniging, I am a nature enthusiast who loves to laugh and is passionate about learning new things. I have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pretoria. I studied mechanical engineering because of my passion for problem solving and the broad nature of the discipline. Since graduating I have worked as a project manager and engineer within the financial training and HVAC industries respectively.

As a young person working in the field of sustainability, I believe it is important for us to act and take responsibility for our future. In my role at Solid Green as Modelling & Simulation Consultant, I am looking forward to contributing to the advancement of the built environment through high-performance building solutions and innovation.

No matter how complex global problems may seem, it is we ourselves who have given rise to them. They cannot be beyond our power to resolve.

Being part of such a proactive team means being part of a community that is committed to making a difference, and having the opportunity to continuously learn, grow and develop into a leader. My experience at Solid Green has influenced my direction. With the Solid Green team, I have experienced the spirit of “Ubuntu” in the work that we do and in a personal capacity. I have never been more motivated to become an expert in everything that I do and grow into a sustainability engineer.
