Solid Green Innovation
Solid Green has birthed many innovative initiatives in our mission to improve the Green Building landscape both in South Africa and abroad. From desktop software and online applications to sister companies and social initiatives we continue to lead the industry into the future.
7Solid XA
Solid XA is a web application used to capture the data required from users for SANS 10400 XA rational assessments in accordance with South Africa’s energy regulations. The site generates free quotes based on building type and GFA and allows for the user and company performing the assessment to manage and streamline the submission of required information, greatly improving the complex process for both parties.
SunHours
SunHours is a free SketchUp plugin developed by Solid Green to calculate solar exposure, letting users visualise how sunlight interacts buildings, allowing for accurate consideration of sunlight early in the design process. Using SketchUp’s built-in capacity to calculate shadows, SunHours allows users to run a simulation over any time period to see how many hours grid points are in direct sunlight. Sunhours also shows compliance with IEQ-05:Daylight Glare Control credit in The Green Star green building rating tool, used in South Africa and Australia.
Decongest Sandton
Solid Green has recently joined forces with Cycology and the GBCSA in the Decongest Sandton Initiative, an incredibly exciting and fun project involving electric bicycle tours through Sandton. The initiative has deservedly received a great deal of media attention. Decongest seeks to raise awareness of green mobility innovations in urban south africa through electric bicycle rides, bicycle networks and cycle commuter research.
Solid Insight
Solid Insight is a cutting-edge web application that promotes the awareness of energy use in buildings by combining the key areas of awareness, education and accessibility through providing a live metering interface for display in building foyers and publically online, as well as bespoke building websites where applicable users guides and other desired information (such as developer details and notable building features) are accessible.
