Achievements & Accolades
Solid Green continues to inspire and excel in the green building industry with an ever growing tally of Green Star certified projects, numerous Green Star SA awards, committee seats and innovative initiatives among a host of other achievements.
7Certifications
As of December 2018, Solid Green has achieved 64 Green Building Certifications – 62 Green Star Certifications and 2 LEED Certifications – including 31 Green Star Office certifications, 15 Green Star Interior certifications, and 6 Green Star EBP projects. Our portfolio includes three 6-star Green Star Projects and eleven 5-star Green Star projects.
Green Star Awards
Since 2011, the GBCSA has awarded the Green Building Council Leadership Awards, which aim to recognise and commend market leaders on the transformation of the South African property market. For two years in a row, Solid Green scooped the award for Established Green Star, for Marloes Reinink in 2012/2013 and for Chilufya Lombe in 2013/2014.

Chilufya Lombe is involved with the newly established ASHRAE South Africa.
Warren Gray serves on the SANS 10400 Part XA committee to ensure that the energy-efficiency standards and processes related to this are well implemented and relevant to the industry.

Solid Green has established Solid Insight. Solid Insight is a cutting-edge web application that promotes the awareness of energy use in buildings by combining the key areas of awareness, education and accessibility. See more of our innovative initiatives here.

In the last two years, Solid Green has more than doubled the number of Green Building Certifications in its portfolio! Solid Green took centre stage at the Green Building Council Leadership Awards, held on 4 October 2018 at the 11th Annual Green Building Convention’s gala dinner at the Century City Conference Centre in Cape Town.

Solid Green Takes Top Honours At 2015 Green Star Awards
Solid Green’s strong performance at the 2015 Green Star SA Leadership Awards marks its continuing success and expansion. Once again, the company has shown that it is at the top-tier of the South African green-building industry with its work on the Monte Circle Building A building and 6-Star-rated Upper Grayston building in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Solid Green certified LEVEL 2 B-BBEE Contributor
Solid Green has been certified as a LEVEL 2 Contributor to B-BBEE for 2015-16 achieving an overall score of 88.46 out of 100 as a Qualifying Small Enterprise. LEVEL 2 is the second highest rating and denotes a 135% BEE recognition level. Download Certificate.

Block F first 6 Star Green Star Building in Joburg
Upper Grayston Block F, with Solid Green as the sustainable building consultant, has become the first building to achieve a 6 Star Green Star SA Office v1 As built Rating in Gauteng. The office block, situated just off Ann Cresent in the heart of Sandton, has been lauded as demonstrating ‘World Leadership’ in the South African sustainability sphere.

Solid Green takes Top Honours at Green Star Leadership Awards 2014
For the second year running Solid Green has picked up the coveted Established Green Star award at the annual Green Star Leadership Awards at the Green Building Convention in Cape Town. This year it was Chilu Lombe who took the honour, following in Marloes Reinink’s foot steps who took the award in 2013.

Two GBCSA Green Star Awards for Solid Green
Solid Green was awarded 2 Green Star awards at the GBCSA Rewire 2013 Convention in Cape Town (16-18 October). We won the award for “Best Quality Submission 2012/13” for the National English Literacy Museum (NELM) in Grahamstown.

Environmental Affairs Office Achieves 6 Stars
The new Department of Environmental Affairs office building being constructed in Pretoria has achieved a 6 Star Green Star Office v1 Design rating. The building achieved the highest score for a large commercial office space in South Africa.

Alice Lane gets 4 Green Stars
The first phase of the Alice Lane development received a 4-star Green Star SA Office v1 Design certification from the Green Building Council SA. Abland Properties is the developer of this development. Solid Green is the Green Building Consultant.

Brydens Upper Grayston Block E Achieves 5 Star As Built Rating
The Upper Grayston Block E office development has achieved 67 points under Green Star SA Office v1 which has earned it a 5 star As Built rating. It is the highest rated 5 star building in South Africa, and the first to go from a 4 star Design rating to a 5 Star As Built rating.

DesignBuilder Certification Formally Issued for SANS 10400 Part XA
Agrément has formally issed a certificate to DesignBuilder software to approve it as certified thermal calculation software for the rational design path to compliance for SANS 10400 Part XA. Click below to see the certificate.

Brydens Upper Grayston Block E Receives 4 Star Green Star Design Rating
Solid Green Consulting was appointed to manage the Green Star process, as well as undertake performance modelling and simulation to inform the design of the building and its systems. It is the second Green Star rating delivered by Solid Green.
