Environmental Affairs Office Achieves 6 Stars

The new Department of Environmental Affairs office building being constructed in Pretoria has achieved a 6 Star Green Star Office v1 Design rating. The building achieved the highest score for a large commercial office space in South Africa.

Solid Green Consulting were appointed to perform the peer review of the Green Star submission, as well as all performance and accreditation modelling and simulation on the project. The building had strict energy targets, and modelling was used to track the impact of design interventions on the total annual energy use. Numerous energy conservation measured were put forward and tested in the building simulation model. The best of those were included in the building design.
