7SunHours is a free SketchUp plugin developed by Solid Green to calculate solar exposure, letting users visualise how sunlight interacts buildings, allowing for accurate consideration of sunlight early in the design process. Using SketchUp’s built-in capacity to calculate shadows, SunHours allows users to run a simulation over any time period to see how many hours grid points are in direct sunlight. Sunhours also shows compliance with IEQ-05:Daylight Glare Control credit in The Green Star green building rating tool, used in South Africa and Australia.
