7Thokozile Lubuta
Thokozile Lubuta is a Junior Green Building Consultant passionate about advancing sustainability within the built environment. She holds a Master’s degree in Construction Project Management from the University of the Witwatersrand, as well as a BSc in Construction Studies and a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management.
With a strong academic and technical foundation, Thokozile supports the integration of green building principles, environmental performance strategies, and responsible construction practices into development projects. She is particularly interested in sustainable infrastructure, carbon-conscious development, and solutions that create long-term environmental and social value. Thokozile is driven by the belief that the built environment plays a critical role in shaping a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable future.
Sinazo Mbebe
Sinazo is a dedicated and results-driven project management professional with a comprehensive expertise in overseeing the project lifecycle. Her skills encompass strategic planning, risk assessment, resource management, and effective stakeholder communication. Holding a Master of Business and Information Administration along with a Bachelor of Technology in Project Management, she combines academic knowledge with practical skills to provide valuable insights and contribute to complex project success. Sinazo presently contributes to improving energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and operational performance across the built environment. She is committed to continuous learning and applies a detail-oriented, evidence-based approach to support environmentally responsible and high-performing buildings.
Lindokuhle Matsebula
Lindokuhle Matsebula holds a BSc (Honours) in Property Studies and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Building, specialising in Property Development and Management. She works as a Junior Green Building Consultant and has a strong interest in sustainability and the green building environment.
Her passion for sustainability developed early and became more intentional in 2020 when she began cultivating a vegetable garden and implementing environmentally responsible practices within her home. This hands-on connection with nature has influenced how she understands the relationship between the natural and built environments, shaping her belief that property development should be guided by sustainability principles and operate in harmony with nature. Lindokuhle is committed to continuous professional growth within the sustainability sector and actively keeps informed on evolving green building standards and best practices, including Green Star. Through her professional work, she applies Green Star principles within the built environment, contributing to projects that prioritise environmental performance, efficiency, and long-term value. Outside of her professional work, Lindokuhle enjoys sport, crocheting, and has a strong appreciation for musicals, reflecting a balance between discipline, creativity, and personal well-being.
Bea van Huyssteen
Bea is MPhil in sustainability candidate with a passion for integrating environmental principles into everyday business practice. With a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development and a BSc in Human Life Sciences from Stellenbosch University, she brings both analytical and human-centred thinking to her work. At Solid Green Consulting, Bea supports project coordination and operational efficiency across the company, ensuring smooth alignment between the Director’s strategic goals and the team’s delivery. Her role spans project administration, client liaison, and organisational management, driving Solid Green’s mission to deliver practical and measurable sustainability outcomes in the built environment. Outside of work, Bea enjoys exploring local art, design, and music scenes, often finding inspiration in creative spaces. She also loves crafting jewellery and spending time in nature.
Constance (Connie) Mulaudzi
Connie is the heart of our office, ensuring that our workspace is always clean, safe, and welcoming. With her dedication, friendly nature, and unwavering commitment to excellence, she fosters a positive environment where everyone can thrive. Her reliability, attention to detail, and caring spirit ensure the office operates smoothly every day. Connie’s professionalism and dedication make her an invaluable member of our team, contributing not only to the cleanliness and organization of our workplace but also to the supportive and uplifting atmosphere we enjoy.
Zusiphe Ngwendu
Zusiphe Ngwendu is a Green Building Consultant with a background in construction management and facilities coordination. With over three years of industry experience, she is passionate about driving sustainable building practices and optimizing resource efficiency. Zusiphe holds a Bachelor’s Honours in Construction Management and has completed a Facilities Management course through UCT (GetSmart). She is currently expanding her expertise through green building certification. She brings a detail-oriented, collaborative approach to delivering environmentally conscious solutions across projects.
Naeem Patel
Naeem Patel is a Junior EDGE Consultant at Solid Green Consulting, currently pursuing his BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying at the University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a BSc in Construction Studies and brings a unique blend of academic excellence, sustainability focus, and hands-on industry experience to the team.
Driven by a passion for both sustainable development and high-performance environments, Naeem thrives in dynamic team settings where real impact can be made. He is particularly drawn to projects that align with his belief in responsible, energy efficient design, while also drawing parallels between teamwork in construction and his lifelong enthusiasm for sports and community building. His background includes site-based work in cost estimation and BOQs, along with retail and property experience that has sharpened his communication and analytical skills.

Simon Penso
Simon Penso is the Director of Solid Green Performance and a seasoned sustainability professional with over 15 years’ experience in engineering, facilities management, and green building consultancy. He has led a wide range of projects, from rooftop solar PV installations and large-scale lighting retrofits to water, waste, and energy efficiency initiatives, as well as numerous GBCSA Green Star certifications.
As the Founder of Imbue Sustainability and a Faculty Member and EBP Assessor with the Green Building Council of South Africa, Simon combines technical expertise with a strategic approach to deliver high-performance, sustainable solutions. His career spans leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, underpinned by qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, and Construction Management.
Passionate about the outdoors, Simon enjoys sailing, mountain biking, hiking, and fly fishing, and brings the same spirit of adventure and innovation to his work in advancing sustainable practices across the built environment.

Maximillian Acquash is a skilled engineer with a passion for sustainability,specialising in energy management and green building practices. With a track record of successfully leading projects, he has made a significant impact in energy efficiency and sustainable development initiatives. Maximillian’s expertise includes conducting energy audits, developing resource-efficient strategies, and optimizing energy resources within organizations to achieve positive environmental and financial outcomes.
Jenni Lombard
Jenni Lombard, with over 26 years of dedicated experience in the built environment, I bring a comprehensive understanding of sustainable practices, corporate interior design, and project management. I have spent the past 11 years directly in the sustainability industry, driving initiatives that promote environmentally responsible building practices. Prior to this, I accumulated 16 years of expertise within corporate interior design and facilities management, working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver innovative and functional workspace solutions. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong ability to motivate and lead teams to excel, fostering collaborative environments that prioritize quality, efficiency, and sustainability. My approach involves engaging with clients, contractors, and internal teams to embed green principles into every phase of the building lifecycle, ensuring long-term value and environmental impact are at the forefront. Danika Taylor
Danika is a Sustainability Consultant, working in the green building environment for over five years. She holds a BSc Honours in Environmental Management. As a Green Star Accredited Professional, she has managed multiple EBP projects, including office developments, educational facilities, public healthcare clinics and retail spaces. Her work has been recognized with the 2024 Highest EBP Rated Building award and the runner-up for the Best Quality EBP Submission award.
Caitlin Marais
Caitlin Marais is an experienced Personal Assistant and Office Manager with a strong background in administrative coordination, client liaison, and operations support. Currently working at Solid Green, she brings over four years of hands-on experience in executive support, office management, compliance, and customer service across fast-paced environments. Caitlin holds a Higher Certificate in Supervisory Management from UNISA and is known for her organisational skills, initiative, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Passionate about creating structure and efficiency, she thrives in roles that support high-level leadership and business operations.
Betty Cossa
Betty is a dedicated and experienced Administrative Professional with a strong background in office coordination, document management, and client service. She holds a National Diploma in Management Assistant from Ekurhuleni West TVET College and brings valuable experience from both public and private sectors, including her current role as Office Administrator at Solid Green Consulting. Amy Symington
Drawing from her passion for sustainability and her creative aspirations Amy obtained a Bachelor of Architectural Studies Honours, from the University of the Witwatersrand. After completing her studies, she transitioned to working at Solid Green Consulting as a Junior Green Building Consultant to focus on making a positive impact in the industry. She works on Interior Green Star Certifications for buildings. She also helps design presentations and graphics. Amy volunteers at the RCSA where she edits monthly webinars and posts them to the NPO’s YouTube channel. She aspires to use her creative skills to advocate for sustainability and make people aware of practical real-life solutions that will provide a valuable difference to the built environment. Amy is enthusiastic about continuing this path and using her skills to drive sustainable practices.
Kayce Theunissen
As a Sustainability Consultant and recent Architectural graduate, Kayce is deeply passionate about technology, innovation, and continual learning. My focus lies in energy modelling and sustainable building practices, where he has cultivated expertise using IFC’s Edge—a tool that simplifies the design and certification of resource-efficient and Zero Carbon buildings worldwide. Kayce approaches challenges with optimism and a keen eye for opportunity, consistently striving to make a positive impact.
His strengths include high-level problem-solving, adaptability, resourcefulness, effective communication, and self-motivation. Thobeka Zuma
Thobeka is a dedicated Quantity Surveying graduate and Sustainability Consultant with a deep passion for technology, innovation, and continuous learning. She began her career in property development as an intern, gaining invaluable experience that paved the way for her successful transition into the property finance sector. Thobeka has also served as a Property Administrator for body corporates, further broadening her expertise in property management. Her professional interests are centred around sustainable building practices, social impact, and green buildings. Thobeka has hands-on experience with the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) EDGE, a green building certification tool that simplifies the design and certification of resource efficient and Zero Carbon buildings globally. Outside of her professional endeavours, Thobeka enjoys hiking and indulging in a good book.
Janki Malefane
An accomplished Interior Architect with an Honours qualification in Interior Architecture, Janki Malefane is dedicated to creating functional and visually striking spaces, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. His experience as an Architectural Technologist saw him contribute to complex architectural projects, developing advanced technical expertise and a keen understanding of how design can address modern challenges. Recognised with the Industrial Award of Excellence for Best in Interior Design, Janki has demonstrated consistency, creativity, and a commitment to merging design excellence with environmental responsibility.
Currently working as a Modelling and Simulation Consultant, he excels in leveraging industry-leading software to integrate sustainable practices into architectural design. Highly adaptable and eager to learn, Janki thrives on acquiring new skills and exploring emerging tools, from advanced CAD modelling to performance simulation platforms. In 2025, he is further strengthening his leadership and project delivery capabilities by pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management, positioning himself to drive innovative, sustainable solutions that meet diverse community needs.
Mellissa Laubscher
A dynamic and results-driven CIMA Certified Business Accountant, Mellissa is the indispensable engine powering Solid Green’s Finance department. Solid Green, a leader in promoting sustainability through innovative practices, relies on Mellissa’s decade of expertise to navigate the financial landscape with precision and purpose. Her deep understanding of the finance value chain, combined with a passion for advancing environmental goals, allows her to enhance both financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Mellissa is known for her keen eye for detail and her talent for streamlining processes, which she applies meticulously in general accounting, developing robust accounting procedures, and guiding teams with unwavering dedication. Her role extends beyond the conventional, as she actively contributes to Solid Green’s mission by ensuring transparent financial practices that support the company’s sustainability objectives.

Thato Mohale
Thato is an International Finance Corporation (IFC) EDGE Expert, having completed the training programme with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA), and is presently an Auditor-in-Training with GBCSA. Currently serving as an EDGE Consultant at Solid Green, she manages the full lifecycle of EDGE certification projects.
Bringing a unique dual background in Finance & Investments and Property Valuation & Management. With demonstrated expertise in retail acquisition, financial modelling, and utility operations, she is deeply committed to sustainability and sustainable development financing, with a particular passion for embedding ESG principles into financial decision-making and property asset management.
Kamohelo Selepe
A sustainability-focused Construction Management professional, Kamohelo holds an Honours degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and is accredited by Net Zero and Green Star. With experience in integrating green building strategies, she is committed to promoting sustainable practices in the built environment. Initially drawn to commerce, a pivotal moment in high school inspired her to pursue civil technology, leading to a passion for construction and sustainability. Despite early challenges in finding her niche, working at Solid Green has solidified her dedication to adding value to the green-built environment and her endeavours.
Wish Mundondo
Wish is a driven and diligent mechanical engineering professional, with a strong focus on energy modelling and simulation within the construction industry. He is dedicated to promoting sustainable building practices and applying advanced engineering principles to enhance building performance. In addition to his technical expertise, Wish is deeply committed to leadership and mentoring, contributing to both academic and professional communities. Passionate about addressing the energy crisis, particularly in Africa, he is keen on research involving renewable energy sources and energy conservation methods. His goal is to explore and improve energy use within the field of infrastructure. Alongside his interest in energy, Wish has a growing enthusiasm for biomedical studies. Wardah Peters
Wardah’s passion for sustainability began during childhood visits to my uncle’s farm in Genadendal and grew through a family member’s influence in Quantity Surveying. She pursued degrees in Construction Studies and Quantity Surveying at the University of the Witwatersrand, where her honours research on sustainable construction earned third place in the Greenovate Competition. Currently, Wardah is completing a Masters in Property Development and Management while leading a team as Technical Services Success Manager at Solid Green. Her career reflects a strong commitment to advancing sustainability in property development through leadership and client-focused service.
Ranjita Pillai
Ranjita Pillai is a distinguished Professional Architect with over a decade of expertise in sustainable building practices across a diverse array of projects, including upmarket residential, commercial, retail, educational, and heritage refurbishments and is currently working as a Green Building Consultant. Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Pune, India, and professional accreditations from both GBCSA and WELL, she is deeply committed to advancing sustainable architecture.

Elri Syfert is an Accredited Professional in Green Buildings with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from NMU. With a passion for making a positive impact, she is dedicated to finding creative and innovative sustainable design solutions to reduce environmental impact, improve business practices and operations, and create healthier and more sustainable spaces for all.

Cebisa Mafukuzela
Cebisa is a Sustainability Consultant with over a decade of experience in the construction industry, including seven years focused on green building practices. She excels in project management, sustainability strategy, and green certifications, with a particular interest in urban-scale and precinct initiatives. Her rural upbringing fuels her commitment to making sustainable architecture accessible to all, especially in rural communities where she develops modern solutions for building infrastructure, sanitation, and educational facilities while preserving local character.
Beyond consulting, Cebisa is a prominent researcher who has presented at international conferences, demonstrating her creative approach to sustainability challenges. She is passionate about the evolving role of sustainability in industry and economic development and is dedicated to transforming the built environment through innovative design and collaborative efforts.
Makhosazana Mthethwa
Makhosazana is a SACAP registered Professional Architect and ESD Consultant with over 14 years of experience in green building consultation and sustainable design across South Africa. She holds a Master of Architecture (Prof.) from the University of Cape Town and is an expert-level sustainability consultant and certification specialist. As a Green Star Accredited Professional, she has managed multiple projects, including office developments, commercial interiors, and educational facilities. Her work has been recognized with the 2022 Green Rising Star and 2023 Best Quality Submission runner-up awards. Makhosazana is also a WELL Accredited Professional, having delivered Africa’s third WELL Health-Safety rating in 2024. Passionate about knowledge sharing, she has lectured at the University of Cape Town and mentors graduate students through the Greenovate program.
Derisha Govender
Derisha Govender is an Architectural Technologist; she graduated with her undergraduate degree in architecture from Wits and spent a year as an intern at Solid Green learning more about sustainable building so that she could apply it to her work as she pursues her Honours degree in architecture at Wits in 2017.
Derisha believes that there are numerous benefits to sustainable building design; she completed the AP courses on the New Buildings and Existing Buildings Green Star Tools as well as the Edge tool course with the intention of getting a better grasp on what it take for a building to be “green”.
Marloes Reinink
Marloes Reinink is the founder and director of Solid Green Consulting, a leading sustainability consultancy in Africa. With an academic background in Innovation and Architecture, she has been a sustainable building consultant for over 20 years in South Africa and Africa. Marloes started Solid Green in 2010, driven by her passion for contributing to a better-built environment and a cleaner planet. Under her leadership, Solid Green has worked on over 200 Green Building projects, offering property developers and building professionals a sophisticated range of consulting services to help them achieve their green building goals. Marloes has been the Sustainability Consultant and Green Star expert on numerous groundbreaking and award-winning green building certification projects in South Africa. In 2017, she expanded her advocacy for a greener built environment by founding GreenED, an online education platform focused on sustainability in the built environment. Additionally, she runs the Regenerative Collaborative SA, an NGO focused on promoting a regenerative built environment. Her outstanding contributions were recognized in August 2018 when she was named Business Woman of the Year: Entrepreneur (Gauteng Regional Awards) at the 4th South African Women in Property Awards (SWAIPA).
Chilufya Lombe
Chilufya is an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in sustainability-focused design and compliance modelling. Specializing in Green Star project management, he excels in detailed modelling of building systems to optimize energy performance. Using advanced simulation tools like DesignBuilder and EnergyPlus, Chilufya has successfully enhanced building energy efficiency while guiding project teams towards sustainable solutions and away from conventional building practices.
A key challenge across Africa is the lack of electricity generation infrastructure, exacerbated by rapid urbanization. Chilufya is passionate about addressing this issue by ensuring that both new and existing buildings operate with significantly reduced resource consumption.
Chilufya played a pivotal role as the Lead Technical Consultant in developing Nigeria’s Building Energy Efficiency Code (BEEC), a project that holds immense significance in Africa’s most populous country. His work contributed to policies that could reduce building energy requirements by 30 to 50%, marking a critical step toward the impact needed on the continent. This project also allowed him to expand his network of experts in sustainable building practices across Africa.
Additionally, Chilufya is a member of the Green Building Council of South Africa’s Education Faculty and serves on their Project Assessment Panel. Originally from Zambia, he is fluent in English.
Adrie Fourie
Adrie Fourie is a visionary sustainability strategist who seamlessly integrates her extensive insight into development economics, urban management, green building design, and precinct development into her role as Head of Department: Sustainable Cities and Research. With a passion for facilitating liveable, resilient, and trauma-informed cities, Adrie is committed to reshaping urban landscapes to address the lingering effects of apartheid spatial planning. She is focused on ensuring that cities prepare for the inevitable challenges of climate change, urbanisation, and resource scarcity. Her career is marked by a relentless drive to foster innovation and guide strategic conversations that lead to tangible, sustainable outcomes. Adrie’s unique approach to city planning is rooted in her certification as a trauma-informed coach, enabling her to mentor and develop the next generation of sustainability practitioners at Solid Green Consulting. Wayne De Villiers
Wayne De Villiers is an experienced Energy Modelling & Sustainability Consultant with a strong background in architecture and engineering with over 10 years of experience in sustainability. Recognised as a lifelong learner, his areas of expertise include energy modelling & simulation, multidisciplinary draughting and environmental design. He started his career in architecture and swiftly moved over to the engineering side after developing an interest in building physics through Solid Green as an energy modelling technician. Over the years he has gained much experience in analysing building performance and has developed skills in various tools used in the industry. Adept at optimising building performance for all building types and helping project teams in achieving their sustainability goals and certifications, Wayne is recognized for his dedication to delivering the highest quality guidance on sustainability measures with exceptional attention to detail and is driven by a need to contribute positively to humanity and strives to achieve meaningful outcomes through his work.
