In reply to <a href="https://www.solidgreen.co.za/vegan-and-plastic-free-travelling/#comment-158">Roxanne</a>.

Hi Roxanne, thank you for your message! I really appreciate it! The pizza was quite a nice experience because we tested two places, the one place charged extra for the vegan pizza base, the vegan cheese, and tofu-chicken, so the pizza became really expensive, more expensive than a meat pizza. This made me quite irritated. Then this other pizza place ModPizza, was great, you could add whatever you wanted and vegan was the same price as anything else. They did not specify what the cheese was made off, but in the States the Daiya cheese is quite popular (https://daiyafoods.com/) - also available in the supermarkets. Just looked on their website and it seems its base is Tapioca starch. I usually try to avoid the fake cheese options, as they are not (yet) very good and then I rather not eat cheese. But it is nice on pizza's I must admit :)
Your question regarding wine is a good one - Do I always check? no, not always, if there is no other option ill drink the wine and try not to think too much about it. But if I buy wine I try to make sure it is vegan. More and more wines are made vegan, here is a website that lists the vegan wines: http://www.vegansa.com/foodstuffs-wine.php (luckily enough to choose from :))
Same here, I also try to do the best I can, wherever I can!
The Bullit Centre was absolutely amazing, i just wrote a piece for the next newsletter (next week) on that visit.

Nice Marloes - keep it going! We need more people like you in this world - keep raising the awareness?

I am interested to know what cheese is on that Pizza :) Cashew, almond ? And the wine - as a fellow Vegan, people always grill me about the whole - "well wine is not vegan due to the "fining" process involved"... Your thoughts? I just state that I am still on a better road and trying to the very best that I can. I wish I could just have my own little sustainable farm in my little jozi townhouse garden .

I look forward to hearing and seeing more.

Soldier on! I am with you in spirit:) You must enjoy the unconference & Bullitt Center - what a dream come true!
