The Solid Green Workplace Resilience Programme started as a quiet internal experiment – an attempt to better support our team in the face of mounting complexity, emotional strain, and long-term sustainability work.

But what began as an inward-facing commitment has grown into something more. It’s become a strategic capability. A mindset. And increasingly, a resource we’re using to support others who are navigating the same challenges in their own teams and organisations.

In this final article of the series on workplace resilience, we reflect on how what we’ve learned internally is beginning to shape how we show up externally – as facilitators, collaborators, and thought partners in building resilience beyond our own walls.

Why This Work Resonates with Others

We’re not alone in recognising the cost of burnout in the sustainability space.

Clients have shared stories of staff fatigue, leadership stress, strained collaboration, and a general sense that the pace of delivery is outstripping the capacity for reflection and care. Project timelines don’t often allow for pause. Teams are expected to absorb shock after shock – whether it’s climate anxiety, policy uncertainty, or the emotional weight of justice-driven work.

In many ways, the conversations we were having inside Solid Green were a mirror of what was happening across the sector.

As a result, our programme has evolved into something others can learn from, adapt, and make their own.

How We’re Supporting Others

We’ve begun using our framework, tools, and facilitation approach in new ways:

Workshops and team sessions for clients seeking to embed resilience into workplace culture

Resilience check-ins during long-term consulting engagements

Resource sharing—including our Resilience Toolkit and Wellness at Work strategies

Leadership coaching for sustainability professionals carrying the emotional weight of change

Sometimes it’s formal. Sometimes it’s a gentle nudge or a shared story. But in all cases, we’re seeing a hunger for this work – not just in theory, but in practice.

From Theory to Application: Resilience in Project Culture

It’s not only internal teams that benefit. Many of our clients are beginning to explore:

how design and development teams relate to each other across project lifecycles

how deadlines and deliverables intersect with human well-being

how to build trust, especially across interdisciplinary or high-stakes collaborations

By bringing in resilience as a design principle – not just an HR conversation – we’re helping teams become more aware, more reflective, and ultimately more effective.

Building a Culture of Permission

One of the most powerful things we’ve learned is that change often starts with permission.
Permission to pause. Permission to check in. Permission to ask, “Is this sustainable – for our people, not just our outputs?”

Through our work, we’re creating cultures where it becomes acceptable – and even expected – to care. To rest. To redesign timelines in ways that preserve energy and clarity. To build not just buildings or plans, but teams that are strong enough to weather the work.

Looking Ahead

The resilience programme isn’t a side project anymore – it’s a core part of how we lead, work, and support others. And we’re excited about what’s next.

Solid Green is committed to leading from within and partnering outward, whether it’s:

helping other sustainability firms build their own internal programmes

supporting cross-disciplinary teams navigating high-stress design environments

or embedding resilience language into project briefs and leadership development

Because workplace resilience isn’t separate from performance. It’s what makes it sustainable.

If you’re exploring how to bring more resilience into your team, your culture, or your collaborations – reach out. Whether you’re looking to start a conversation, pilot a new idea, or co-create something meaningful, we’d love to connect.
